Introducing the Velux Solar-Powered Skylight
“There is a sort of elation about sunlight on the upper part of a house.” Edward Hopper, Painter
Skylights are the up-and-coming contemporary design piece for new homes. By bringing in natural light and now fresh air, Skylights are a great way to keep your home lively and energy efficient.
But not all Skylights are created equal.
Here’s everything you need to know about our favorite new product, the Velux Solar-Powered Skylight.
1. What is a “Skylight”?
A Skylight is a window for your roof. Traditionally, they are fixed openings, meaning there’s no operational part of the window and it stays shut all year long.
Velux Solar-Powered Skylights not only open and close, but they do so using solar energy and a remote control! It’s a brilliant way to allow natural light and fresh air into your home.
2. What else do they offer?
In addition to the window being operational and solar-powered, Velux Skylights also come with a choice of solar-powered blinds. These blinds feature their own solar power system, so you don’t have to worry about the window losing power. Blinds can be added on to any Solar-Powered Skylight order and come in 10 different colors, shades, and patterns.
3. Why Velux?
Velux goes all-in to make sure you have the best Skylight possible. Each Skylight features their Neat® glass coating to keep your skylight cleaner, longer, leaving them virtually spotless year round.
Velux Skylights also reduce unwanted outside noise by up to 25% less than a standard double pane glass, and up to 50% less than a plastic skylight. (Source)
4. Is it cost-effective?
Because they qualify as “Solar Electric Property,” Velux Solar-Powered Skylights qualify for a tax credit up to 30% of purchased price. If you add the Solar-Powered Blinds to your order, those would qualify you for another 30% tax credit.
When you add in the savings and rebate programs we offer at CES, there’s no reason not to consider a Velux Solar-Powered Skylight!
